Black Belt Club

Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders

The Black Belt Club is designed for those students who are committed to achieving the long term goal of earning their black belt. However, earning that black belt is much more than simply perfecting kicks, blocks and strikes. As in other areas of a child’s life, it is very important that parents, teachers, instructors, and the kids themselves, work together as a team in order for the child to become successful. At LAMA we believe it is our responsibility as their instructors to teach kids life skills that will help them in achieving success now, and as they grow and mature.

Two additional classes are available to those students enrolled in the Black Belt Club; Weapons and High Performers. The Weapons class focuses on acrobatics, one-step sparring, self defense, forms and free sparring using two traditional weapons; the sword and staff. The focus of the High Performers class is to prepare the kids in the basics of performing whether in preparation for a Martial Arts tournament or preparation for life challenges such as giving a presentation in front of a group of people or interviewing for a job. These skills are taught through sparring, grappling, flashy forms using open and closed hand, self defense techniques and board breaking.

As an added benefit of participation in the Black Belt Club there is an opportunity to join the Demo and Swat Teams if invited by the Master Instructor.  The Demo team is an elite demonstration team designed to perform at scheduled local events to promote Martial Arts Training. These students are the best of the best and are trained more intensely by the Master Instructor. The SWAT team members are instructor assistants who assist the Master Instructor with daily operations of the school in order to learn how to run a business. SWAT members need to be community service oriented and focused to be role models toward other students.
